The 86 chassis is among one of the most heavily supported cars in the aftermarket scene – from supercharger and turbocharger kits to drop-in 2jz conversions and widebody additions, the FR-S, BR-Z, and GT-86 are a blank slate for the enthusiast looking to make serious modifications to their car.

Stock, the car’s numbers aren’t particularly exciting nor outstanding at 200hp and 151 lb-ft torque; but this car’s spacious engine bay, wide aftermarket support, and 53-47 weight distribution make it a contender for a seriously rewarding build.

Joseph’s working to do just that with his FR-S. On this cloudy Monday, he brought the car to our shop straight after getting his Rocket Bunny V3 kit installed by local shop LTMW.

The Rocket Bunny kit widens the stock FRS body by 65mm in the front and 90mm in the rear – making for a pretty comical sight when the widebody car remains on stock wheels.

We lovingly refer to this as hovercraft fitment. While we appreciate a good tucked stance, this is nothing like that – luckily, that’s where we came in. Joseph selected the Forgestar M14 for his build – a 2-piece deep dish wheel often found on RWB porsches. Outfitted with gunmetal faces, polished lips & barrels, and polished exposed hardware, these M14’s perfectly fill out the FR-S’s wide fenders at 18×11″ et-15 in the front, and 18×13″ et-15 in the rear. A 13-inch wheel on an FR-S?! We’re all for it.

To complement the additional girth, Joseph selected the aggressive Toyo R888R tires at 265/35/18 in the front, and 315/30/18 in the rear.

Compared to the stock wheels at 17×7″, these Forgestars dwarf the original fitment of the FR-S.

After install, the car’s look is finally complete and the transformation is awesome! With wheels to match, this V3 Rocket Bunny FRS is finally looking as aggressive as it should. Joseph’s car is lowered on BC Coilovers, with the fronts spun up a tad bit to maintain optimal ground clearance for daily drivability.
