Steven C came into the shop a few months back with a stock red Scion FR-S that really needed something to make it stand out from the crowd and make it a bit more fun to drive. A visit with the Mod Experts was in order to turn start tailoring this car to Steven’s style and tastes.
We’ll be removing the quiet and restrictive factory FR-S Exhaust and installing a CARB legal Cat-Back Exhaust system to give the car more power, a better engine note and a much better looking rear end.
Our Mod Experts set Steven up with a Perrin 2.5in Cat-Back Exhaust for Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ. This 2.5in diameter non-resonated system will give the car a bit more of that boxer rumble and the 4in round slash cut tips really fill out the OEM exhaust cutouts far better than factory.
The Perrin Exhaust is a direct bolt on, so our installers had the system fitted in no time.
To give his FR-S a more unique look, we replaced the rather vanilla OEM tail lights with a set of Smoked Lens with Red Light Bar Valenti LED Tail Lights for 2012-15 Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ [ZN6/ZC6], which goes quite well with the Black-and-Red Theme Steven has going.
To match the tails, we also installed a Valenti LED Rear Bumper Light for FR-S/BRZ, but configured in the Red Lens/White Light bar style.
With everything put together, let’s take a look at the system from below.
The smoothed bends in the Perrin exhaust are also responsible for the increase in power.
The etched Perrin logo on the exhaust tips is a nice touch as well.
We still weren’t done. In addition to the Perrin Exhaust and Valenti Tail Lights, we also installed an FRP Duck Bill Trunk Spoiler for Scion FR-S,Subaru BRZ & Toyota 86 to give the rear end more flair. Left in black primer, this spoiler keys in nicely to the smoked tail lights and the matte OEM rear diffuser.
