UPDATED: When we first published this post, half the photos got lost on a missing SD card. Well, we found the card and so we’ve salvaged a few pics to update this post.
Recently we had a Volkswagen Golf R in the shop for some nice breathing mods. Volkswagen’s Golf R takes the idea of a hot hatch and jams it full of steroids so it makes sense that owner Brandon Hernandez wanted to get the most out of his V-dub’s turbo 4-pot.
Sr Mod Expert Alan at ModBargains got him set up with an AWE Tuning S-Flo Carbon Intake, Forge Motorsport Blow Off Valve, and REMUS Sport Catback for some nice performance gains and better overall induction/exhaust sound.
AWE Tuning S-Flo Carbon Intake
Everyone knows that carbon fiber makes everything 100% better. Carbon fiber intakes, carbon fiber hoods, carbon fiber spoilers… hell, we’d rock full carbon fiber seats if we didn’t care about having functional spines. This AWE Tuning intake isn’t just for looks, though. It offers decent performance gains while also improving your engine’s induction sound giving it a nice deep growl.
Coupled with the Forge Motorsport Blow Off Valve, you’ll have a nice WHOOSH to accompany your intake’s new found voice. You might never have to turn on your radio again.
The stock exhaust still left a lot to be desired, though.
Rounding out the air flow mods is the REMUS Sport Catback Exhaust which pipes out a deep and aggressive exhaust note through its stainless steel quad tip design. Like the AWE Tuning intake, this REMUS catback exhaust is no slouch in the performance department either with dyno proven power gains upwards of 10+ HP.
Deeper induction noise, pronounced turbo blow off, and a more aggressive exhaust growl? This Golf R just became a symphony on wheels.
