Jeff R’s ’07 E92 BMW 335i rolled into the shop on a set of MRR Wheels GT-7s at stock ride height, just crying out for a drop – today it was going to get just that among a slew of other mods thanks to Sr Mod Expert Alan Wei. The photo above is the “before” photo – by the end of this article you’ll be looking at a totally different BMW 335i.Here’s how the car sits with the OEM springs. The MRR GT-7 wheels were spec’d at 18×8.5 / 19×9.5 paired with 225/40-18 / 255/35-18 tires – a conservative but great looking fitment.
And one last look at the OEM rear bumper before that goes bye bye too.
A Freshly painted Mtech style front bumper for BMW E92 awaits installation. It’s really convenient that these bumper kits come complete with all the other little bits and pieces you need like lower grilles and various brackets and such. As we’ve mentioned before, we’re able to offer paint services to LOCAL customers for added convenience. We had the front bumper off before you could say Bob’s your uncle. Here’s how the old bumper looks set up next to the new one. We weren’t stopping with just changing the bumper on the front end either, we also had some lighting upgrades for BMW E92 in store.
As we’ve mentioned before in an earlier post, the BMW 335i has woefully undersized oil coolers, either it was too small or some cars didn’t get them at all! This means that on even just a spirited drive through your favorite canyon or windy road, the motor might get the oil too hot and send you into limp mode.
A set of dual Competiton Oil Coolers for BMW 335i from Evolution Racewerks solves the problem by eliminating the single undersized oil cooler with a pair of oversized oil coolers, making use of the ducts next to the fog lights in the front bumper.
Each oil cooler comes with its own ducting to ensure the cooler is seeing optimum air flow for more effective cooling and thermal transfer. But wait, there’s MORE!
Though the intake itself is stock, Jeff has done a ton for preventive maintenance mods – an Evoluton Racewerks BMW N54 Chargepipe for Diverter Valves (rather than a BOV) eliminates the failure-prone OEM chargepipes which have been failing with greater frequency this past year as the plastic becomes brittle with age. Complimenting the chargepipe is a set of Turbosmart Kompact Plumb Back Diverter Valves for BMW N54, eliminating the 26ft/lbs of torque normally lost to boost leaking out of the leak-prone OEM diverter valves.
Next up was a set of LUX H8 LED Angel Eyes for BMW E92 to brighten up the E92 Lighting.
Then it was time to give the car the drop it so sorely needed, thanks to a set of CKS Suspension Coilovers for BMW E92.
CKS – Corner Konnection Systems – has an outstanding reputation with the BMW community for their high quality coilover options for E92 Suspension.
The last set of mods was simple – a M-sport Style Rear Bumper for BMW E92 and a Performance Style Carbon Fiber Trunk Spoiler for BMW E92.
