BMW F32 4-Series don’t roll out of the factory looking this good – it takes a few of the right mods to make it look right. As we mentioned in our guide to the Best Mods for F32 BMW 435i, wheels and lowering the F32 435i Suspension is one of the best possible places to start modding your 4-Series, and that’s exactly what Mod Expert Blake helped this 4-Series owner do here at ModAuto.

To start, we’ve ditched the rather boring factory wheels in favor of something much sexier – and something that’s a much better performer. Blake recommended a set of HRE FF01 Wheels for BMW in Tarmac finish to give the car stark contrast to the alpine white exterior, and the Tarmac finish ties into the gloss black fender trim. To give the car traction to match, Blake spec’d out a set of Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 Tires in 235/35-19 / 255/30-19. ModBargains is a stocking distributor for most performance tire brands and we offer great deals on wheel and tire packages – including mounting and balancing, which can save you quite a bit of cash.

When you install a set of awesome wheels, it often doesn’t look right unless you lower the car as well – and to eliminate the nasty wheelgap that glares at you like a gap between front teeth – lowering the suspension is a must as well. To achieve that, Blake recommended a set of BC Racing Coilovers for BMW F32 4-Series.

The BC Racing Coilovers offer the full range of adjustment from control over ride height – which allows us to achieve the stance you see here – to shock damping and more for a total of 30-way adjustment, and at right around $1000 USD as of press time, these offer a nearly unbeatable value for the money. With the stance handled, now it was time to move onto the power side of things.

To give the N55 under the hood more oomph and a much more satisfying engine note when prodded by the accelerator, we’re upgrading the F32 435i Intake system as well. We’ve already removed the factory airbox in the shot above.

Since we’re in California, it’s important for smog reasons that we use CARB approved upgrades if we hope to stay emissions compliant. The Injen Intake for BMW N55 offers the benefits of a CARB-pending intake setup with the horsepower and torque gains you’d expect from Injen.

Good for an additional 10 horsepower and 6lb/ft of torque at the wheels, this intake delivers power you’ll definitely feel across much of the revband. See for yourself in the dyno sheet above.

The Injen 435i Intake replaces the restrictive factory airbox and filter element with a high flow conical filter element which offers more filtration surface area and unrestricted flow to deliver the gains we see on the dyno sheet. This intake replaces the airbox with a heat shield that directs the incoming air from the kidney grilles towards the Injen filter inlet.

With the intake installed, all that was left to do was take the car outside to appreciate our handiwork.

The new side profile on the HRE FF01s paired with the BC Coilovers for F32 gives the 435i a much more aggressive, sporting character. Now it looks like it’s the “M-Sport” version rather than the ho hum dailydriver spec 428i your neighbor’s wife has in the driveway.

Up close, the detail of the HRE Flow Form Wheels compliments the handsome M-Performance Brake calipers like a fine wine to a great cheese.

The end result of just three bolt on mods has made a dramatic difference in the look and performance of this 435i, making it sound better with an unrestricted intake and accelerate faster off the line with 10 more hp going to the rear wheels and less unsprung weight thanks to the lightweight flow form construction of those HRE FF01 wheels.

It just goes to show how the right parts can make a world of difference in the appearance of your car – why would you keep driving something meh and tell people “that’s my car”, when you could be driving something awesome, and say instead, “That’s my car!”. When your car can look like this so easily, why be boring?
