The Tesla Model 3 has taken the world (or at least the US) by storm. In 2018 it outsold the BMW
3-Series, Audi A4, and Mercedes C-Class combined by more than 6000 units. For all intents and purposes, the Model 3 has become the quintessential Luxury Sedan. Now that you have your Model 3, you might be having the same experience BMW 3-Series owners have had for the last 2 decades. Everywhere you look, you see someone else in the exact same car as you and it doesn’t always feel great. You bought your Model 3 to be a little different while maintaining some class and style. So how do you set your car apart in this growing sea of Teslas? Glad you asked…
There are 4 things that drastically change the appearance and presence of any vehicle. Wheels, Suspension (typically lowering), Body Styling, and Exhaust. The last one isn’t really an option for the Tesla obviously, but any Model 3 can take advantage of the first 3 and there are already a lot of options out there.
Wheels
Most would agree that wheels have the greatest visual impact on any vehicle. We’ve all been to the dealership and seen the same vehicles with different sets of wheels on them depending on packages, trim, etc. That is usually one of the most obvious differences, which is why automotive manufacturers put bigger and nicer wheels on the more expensive models. It changes the feel of the car and how you look at it. While some manufacturers do a decent job of it, there are so many better options in the aftermarket for less money with the same if not better quality.
We won’t go into painful details here on how to pick the right size wheel. If you want help picking out wheels for your Tesla (fitment, diameter, width, etc) and want all the details, check out our TESLA MODEL 3 COMPREHENSIVE WHEEL FITMENT GUIDE article. In this article we will give you some great suggestions of quality wheels that look great and will fit your Model 3 just right no matter your budget. Don’t worry, almost all of our listings include a basic fitment guide to help you pick the right offsets and widths to get the look you desire.
We will start this list with the wheels that are easiest on the wallet. We fully stand behind the quality of all our recommendations and are sure you would be happy with any of the wheels from these manufacturers.

Tires
If you’re considering a new set of wheels, there a decent chance you’re going to need new tires. Some people don’t put a lot of thought into which tires they buy or simply go with whatever the tire shop recommends (which is usually whatever the shop gets kickbacks on). This can be a mistake as tires are one of the most important parts of your vehicle. They are the only thing connecting you to the road after all.
If you want all the details and deeper insight on what tires to choose for your Model 3 we invite you to read more about them in the Tire sizing, types (compounds), and recommendations section of the TESLA MODEL 3 COMPREHENSIVE WHEEL FITMENT GUIDE.
Here is a quick rundown of our recommendation for tires that we believe would work well on the Model 3 broken down by your needs. Most of these are more performance oriented as most enthusiasts inevitably want better performance out of their vehicles. You might be wondering if you should get Summer or All-Season. Well, guess what, we have a blog completely dedicated to explaining how to choose the right type of tire: MODBARGAINS TIRE GUIDE: GET A GRIP
The quick summary of that article if you don’t want to read through it all:
Winter Tires – “Do you get moderate to heavy snow in the winter? You’re gonna need some winter tires, no question.”
All-Season Tires – “If you live in the right climate they (All-Season Tires) will be decent in every situation you will encounter. The “right climate” we speak of is one that does not experience severe winters, leaning more towards hot summers and moderate winters. If temperatures pretty much always stay above freezing in your area and you rarely encounter snow these will work very well for you.”
Summer Tires – “If you live in a more temperate climate you should reflect on your priorities before deciding if you want a set of all-seasons or summer tires for your car. Just to recap, all-seasons are going to generally be a bit quieter, last you a fair amount longer, and will be cheaper. Summer tires will give you more thrills but for more bills. Road holding, braking, and acceleration will all be better, but at the cost of faster wear and a higher price point.”
All Season Tires:
The most popular All Season Tires we see customers order are from the “UHP (Ultra High Performance)” category. When you need an All-Season Tire (or just want more miles out of your tires) but don’t want to sacrifice much performance these tires strike a decent balance. Our two top sellers are the Continental DWS06 and the General G-Max AS-05.
CONTINENTAL DWS06
Based on an evolution of the previously highly acclaimed DWS series, Continental further improved the breed with a focus of even longer tread life and sidewall strength while also improving on Dry Wet and Snow traction.

Suspension
As you can see in the wheel example photos, the 2nd most obvious visual change to the Model 3 is definitely the Suspension. Removing or reducing the car’s fend gap makes the Tesla look like a completely different vehicle. Lowering takes the Model 3 from a modest looking luxury car, to an aggressive luxury sports sedan.
There are a good number of options available for lowering your Tesla depending on your budget and how you want your Model 3 to perform. Springs are the most cost effective means for achieving a lowered ride height and they definitely get the job done. While you might see some offerings around the internet from companies not on our list, that doesn’t mean they are bad options, but simply not products we can recommend because we don’t have enough experience with them to make a solid judgement.
Lowering Springs
Lowering springs have other benefits besides improving looks. Handling is improved by lowering the center of gravity of the car which reduces body roll while corning, squat under acceleration, and nose-dive under braking. They also lessen the aerodynamic drag under the vehicle improving range/mileage and acceleration. There is always a trade off with lowering springs however. Because the spring must be engineered to work with the factory dampers, they often sacrifice a little bit of ride quality (though several Model 3 owners say that some lowering springs are more comfortable than stock) and use a progressive spring rate which is less predictable in very high performance situations. Most people will never notice the performance drawbacks, but it is something worth mentioning.
Eibach Pro-Kit Springs:
Eibach is one of the most trusted lower spring manufacturers in the world. The Quality is outstanding and they back every set of springs with a 1 million mile warranty. The Pro-Kit is their flagship product offering a very tasteful drop which strikes an ideal balance of reduced fender gap and ground clearance so you don’t have to worry too much about dips, speed bumps, and steep driveways.
Pricing: $324.00/set (4 Springs) *Available for Long Range RWD/AWD and Performance AWD
Construction: Cold Rolled Steel
Long Range RWD Lowering: 1.0 in. Front | 1.1 in. Rear
Long Range AWD Lowering: 0.9 in. Front | 1.0 in. Rear
Performance RWD Lowering: 1.0 in. Front | 1.4 in. Rear
Pros:
| Cons:
|
RSR Ti2000 DownSus Springs:
RSR is the largest aftermarket spring manufacturer in Japan and there is no question of why they are also #1. RSR puts a huge emphasis on comfort when designing their springs and you can definitely feel the difference. Their DownSus springs are their best seller for almost every vehicle striking a near perfect balance of reduced fender gap and ground clearance so you don’t have to worry too much about speed bumps, steep driveways, and dips. The RSR Tesla Springs are made of Titanium which helps reduce unsprung weight, improve ride quality, and cope with the weight of the Model 3 better than traditional steel.
Pricing: $459.00 *for RWD only (non extended range)
Construction: Titanium Alloy
Lowering: 1.0 in. Front | 1.0 in. Rear
Pros:
| Cons:

Coilovers
Coilovers are considered by most enthusiasts as the pinnacle of suspension upgrades, and with good reason. A properly engineered coilovers setup ideally matches the damper and spring to work synergistically delivering drastically improved performance and a rather comfortable ride quality (though this is not always the case with budget coilover systems). Most coilovers come with adjustable dampers so you can fine tune the system to fit your needs and desires. This can be a bit of a blessing and a curse for someone who would normally be happy with a standard setting but end up chasing that perfect balance that doesn’t really exist because road conditions often vary too much to get it perfect for every surface.
While coilovers are definitely more costly than lowering springs, keep in mind you are getting both springs and matching set of dampers. A set of factory replacement stocks can run well over $1000 from the OEM. While they aren’t for everyone, coilovers are definitely the best option for those looking to maximize performance, improve ride comfort, and/or unlock adjustability.
Just like with lowering springs for the Model 3, you might see some offerings from companies not on our list. That doesn’t mean they are bad options, but simply not products we can make a recommendation on because we don’t have enough experience with them to make a solid judgment.
KW V3 Coilovers:
KW has long been hallowed as the most comfortable street coilover. The KW Engineers in Germany put a huge emphasis on ride quality knowing that most enthusiasts actually spend most of their time on the road and not on the race track. If you’re looking for superb comfort paired with great performance and both ride height and damper adjustability, look no further than KW. Available for all RWD and AWD Model 3s.
Pricing: $2549.99/set
RWD Lowering Range: 1.0-2.1 in. Front | 1.0-1.9 in. Rear
AWD Lowering Range: 1.0-1.9 in. Front | 1.0-1.9 in. Rear
Pros:
| Cons:
|
RSR Sports-i Coilovers:
RSR is the largest aftermarket spring manufacturer in Japan and there is no question of why they are also #1. RSR puts a huge emphasis on comfort when engineering their coilovers and you can definitely tell. RSR Coilovers have been widely used by Lexus and Infiniti owners for the last decade and every owner will testify to their comfort and performance. Just because they are less expensive than the KW, don’t think that means they skimped on quality. Each coilover set is made with high quality powder-coated stainless steel and titanium springs. No matter how low you decide to go with these coilovers, they will always maintain a superb ride.
Note from the Author: I have run RSR Coilovers on 3 of my vehicles and would recommend them for street driving over any brand in this price range.
Pricing: $1999.00/set *for RWD only
RWD Lowering Range: +0.8-3.6 in. Front | 0.4-2.2 in. Rear

Body Styling
Now we have all seen body styling parts on vehicles. Whether good or bad, they definitely help a car stand out, but you definitely don’t want it to be for the wrong reasons. Attractive body styling parts flow with the vehicles lines and overall shape. They are there to add to the beauty of your car like a piece of jewelry or fashion accessory.
While there aren’t a lot of options available on the market yet, there are some pretty nice looking parts we think will interest those looking to do more than just wheels and suspension.
As before, we will start with items that are easiest on the budget and move up!
Hood Emblems – Matte Black / Gloss Black / Black Chrome:
Chrome is shiny but far from sporty. A quick and easy update to your Model 3 is replacing the chrome emblems with black ones. It is amazing how big of a difference this little change can make.
Pricing: $95.00 (each)
Construction: OEM Tesla Emblems
Pros:
| Cons:
|
Trunk Emblems – Matte Black / Gloss Black / Black Chrome:
Chrome is shiny but far from sporty. A quick and easy update to your Model 3 is replacing the chrome emblems with black ones. It is amazing how big of a difference this little change can make.
Pricing: $95.00 (each)
Construction: OEM Tesla Emblems
Pros:
| Cons:
|
Performance Style Rear/Trunk Spoiler:
The trunk line of the Model 3 is probably the most underwhelming point of styling on the car. The performance model comes with a spoiler, but if you happen to be a Tesla owner who didn’t get the performance package, you are missing out on a very noticeable upgrade.
Pricing: $295.00
Construction: 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
Vorsteiner Volta Aero Program:
Vorsteiner has been around for years offering mainly high end body styling/aero components for Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, BMW, Lexus, and more. Their designs are unique, aggressive, and classy, playing off the inherent beauty of each car they have inducted into their program lineup. It was no surprise when Vorsteiner put their designers and engineers to work on the Model 3, and we were definitely not disappointed with the results. The Volta is available as a complete kit or à la carte.
Volta Aero Kit (Complete):
Every piece of the Volta Aero Kit was designed to work together to create a whole new feel to the Model 3. Each part adds an aggressive and sporty feel to the car transforming the Tesla into a real head turner. We all know the Model 3 is one of the fastest sedans on the market, now it can look like it. Constructed of aerospace grade prepreg carbon fiber, the Volta kit will last longer than cheap replica parts on top of an obviously superior finish quality.
The Kit Includes: Front Lip Spoiler, Side Skirts, Rear Diffuser, and Rear Trunk Spoiler.
Pricing (w/o rear trunk spoiler): $5875.75
Pricing (with rear trunk spoiler): $6916.00
Construction: Pre-preg 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
*Prepreg is the term for carbon fiber that has been pre-impregnated with a resin system. This allows for near-perfect epoxy resin content, maximizing strength and durability, as well as excellent surface finish.
Volta Front Lip Spoiler:
While the front bumper of the Model 3 looks great, it does leave something to be desired for those wanting that “sport sedan” look. Vorsteiner solved this by designing a front lip spoiler that creates that aggressive slope to the front bumper while also visually widening the car. Any if you’re worried about it easily breaking when scraped on a driveway or dip in the road, remember that not all carbon fiber parts are created equal. Vorsteiner uses the latest aerospace grade prepreg carbon fiber to keep your lip intact through the rigors of daily driving.
Pricing: $1420.25
Construction: Pre-preg 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
Volta Side Skirts:
Some overlook side skirts when buying aero parts. However, once you see a car with matching lip and side skirts you start to see the appeal. The side skirts bring a real sporty feel to the side profile of the car giving it a lower and wider look. Pairing perfectly with the front lip, they really add another level to the overall feel of the Tesla.
Pricing: $1895.25
Construction: Pre-preg 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
Volta Rear Diffuser:
A rear diffuser on any car can transform the look and the Model 3 is no exception. However, on the Model 3 it makes an even bigger difference by elongating and squaring off the rear end giving the car a less stubby look in the rear. This is a must have in our opinion.
Pricing: $1895.25
Construction: Pre-preg 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
Volta Rear Spoiler/Wing:
The trunk line of the Model 3 is probably the most underwhelming point of styling on the car. While the factory spoiler available on the performance model helps, but trunk line is just begging for a little more. The Vorsteiner rear spoiler does an amazing job extending the lines of the trunk and giving that sporty ducktail look that everyone loves.
Pricing: $1040.25
Construction: Pre-preg 2×2 Carbon Fiber

RevoZport Strasse Front Splitter and Uprights:
The front splitter was designed with both style and function in mind. RevoZport incorporated air dams underneath the Model 3 and unique uprights to provide improved airflow. The design adds a nice aggressive slope to the overall shape of the bumper and the uprights give it an aggressively wider appearance.
Pricing (polyurethane): $420.00
Pricing (matte or gloss finish): $1800.00
Pricing (Forged Carbon): $2070.00
Construction: 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
RevoZport Strasse Side Skirts:
Just like the rest of the kit, the side skirts were designed with function in mind. The shape of the skirt helps prevent air flowing from the side of the Model 3 to the underside. This reduces drag and lift at higher speeds improving both aerodynamics and high speed handling. The wider stylish looks are just another perk.
Pricing (polyurethane): $400.00
Pricing (matte or gloss finish): $1400.00
Pricing (Forged Carbon): $1610.00
Construction: 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
RevoZport Strasse Rear Bumper Skirts:
Bumper skirts are really an extension of the side skirts. They help complete the look by carrying the same lines along the side of the whole car. They really help give the Model 3 that lower sporty look while smoothly tying in the rear diffuser.
Pricing (polyurethane): $290.00
Pricing (matte or gloss finish): $650.00
Pricing (Forged Carbon): $747.00
Construction: 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
RevoZport Strasse Rear Diffuser:
One of the biggest sources of drag on a vehicle comes from the turbulence generated behind it as it moves. This functional diffuser, aside from looking awesome, actually smooths and channels airflow to reduce drag and improve stability.
Pricing (polyurethane): $450.00
Pricing (matte or gloss finish): $1690.00
Pricing (Forged Carbon): $1944.00
Construction: 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
RevoZport Strasse Add-on Trunk Spoiler:
The trunk line of the Model 3 is probably the most underwhelming point of styling on the car. While the factory spoiler available on the performance model helps, the trunk line is just begging for a little more. RevoZport gives that ducktail look the rear without overpowering the rear.
Pricing (polyurethane): $250.00
Pricing (matte or gloss finish): $590.00
Pricing (Forged Carbon): $679.00
Construction: 2×2 Carbon Fiber
Pros:
| Cons:
|
RevoZport R-Zentric Model 3R Complete Aerokit:
The R-Zentric Aerokit was designed with performance in mind. The widebody design extends the track width by 15mm on each side to ensure the highest power delivery in corning while maintaining traction. The entire kit was developed with aerodynamics in mind to produce maximum performance. Each piece is hand made from Carbon Kevlar so it not only looks amazing, but also creates a strong and durable kit that can put up with the rigors of daily and performance driving.
Pricing (matte or gloss finish): $7900.00
Construction: 2×2 Carbon Kevlar
