Carben W’s BMW E92 335i base rolled into the shop recently already boasting a few custom touches like custom painted front Kidney Grilles and a set of Beyern Mesh Type wheels for BMW, but the non-Msport OEM front bumper really detracted from the look of the rest of the car, so he came in to see Mod Expert Blake to give the car a new aesthetic.
Take a good last look at how the car appears with the OEM front bumper, as it’s going bye bye. In addition to the front bumper, Carben also wanted to give his N54 a bit more muscle with an Injen Tecnology Dual Cone Air Intake for BMW 335i. As we’ve discussed before, the OEM intake for the BMW N54 engine is very restrictive, and even before tune the Injen Intake yields 13whp / 13wtq for noticeable but modest gain.
Beyond just the horsepower gains, throttle response is sharper and you also get the added benefit of better hearing your turbos spool. The Injen Intake is also CARB approved.
After the E92 Intake was squared away it was time to move on to the cosmetics. Transforming the look of this E92 completely is a M3 Style front Bumper for BMW E92, giving the car a more aggressive front end aesthetic as well as increasing the size of the main lower grille, stuffing more air into the FMIC right behind its opening.
After installing the M3 style front bumper on Carben’s E92, we took it out into the sun to get a couple of shots at how everything looked installed.
The handsome polished lip of the Beyern Mesh Type Wheels for BMW (spec’d at 19×8.5 19×9.5 front/rear, wrapped in 235/35-19 265/30-19 Nitto Invo Tires) really compliments the aggressive aesthetic of the M3 style front end.
Here’s another angle of how the whole package looks with the M3 front bumper – without any extra side skirts or splitters on the bumper the lines flow really nicely with the natural 335i sideskirts (M3 sideskirts are a favorite mod amongst E92 335i’s)
The end result is perfectly clean. Subtly customized without being obnoxious or over the top – a very classy, clean aesthetic.
Carben’s put together quite the clean E92 with just a few minor tweaks to make the car better. Thank you to Carben for letting us share the photos and to Blake for getting all the pieces together to make the install happen smoothly.
