Miguel has been a long time customer of Sr Mod Expert Alan Wei – we featured his E90 BMW M3 a while back when we installed those massive WORK wheels, but like every other car on the road, M3’s need maintenance too. However, the average oil change shop probably isn’t the place you want touching your S65 4.0L V8 – speaking as a former quick-oil-change employee, I wouldn’t recommend it – it’s too easy for an inexperienced tech to strip the damn oil filter housing and screw up changing the cartridge – nor would we recommend using just any motor oil in a finely tuned piece of machinery like the S65. In previous articles, we’ve talked about why the oil the manufacturer recommends isn’t always the best (spoiler alert: the manufacturer recommends whatever brand oil pays the most for their endorsement), and also discussed how BMW has gotten it wrong before about their oil change intervals (proving that much to BMW purists’ chagrin, that BMW’s engineers are NOT infallible), so finding an oil that’s great for the motor isn’t as easy as a trip to the parts store. A true synthetic oil like Motul is an ideal choice, though there are a few other true synthetics on the market as well.

That’s why when it came time for an oil change and tune-up, Miguel didn’t take his M3 just anywhere- he brought his M3 to the Mod Experts.
