When a car has been driven for maximum enjoyment out in the real world, it often bears battlescars. We met the RED135i a few days back and immediately fell in love with this Pasadena student’s Angeles Crest Highway weapon.
Tucked neatly behind the out-of-print Beyern Bavaria Flowform Wheels is a massive BMW Performance Big Brake Kit – with bigass brakes and riding on KW V3 Coilovers for E82 with a set of lightweight flow form Beyern wheels, you know this little 1er means business.
Fitted with the BMW Performance Bumper and the even rarer Performance Style Side Skirts, the car looks very different than your average 1-series. The driver tells us that with school occupying most of his time, he doesn’t have a lot of time to spare, so when he does get a free moment, he’s blasting up and down Angeles Crest Highway, driving the way the car was meant to be driven.
One look into the interior belies its racecar-tastic nature, the back seat is long gone and the driver’s set has been replaced with an appropriately red STATUS racing seat.
Check out the side profile of that seat, and make note of that MANUAL transmission, meaning this guy’s banging through the gears as he carves the canyon. Everything about the car says that this well loved 1-series is driven hard and fast.
Giving the turbo six under the hood a bit more character under throttle is a BMW Performance Exhaust for E82 135i, reputedly one of the community’s favorite exhaust systems for sound.
The rear end has more visual flavor than stock to match the front end and side skirts, like the Performance Style Carbon Fiber Diffuser + Performance Style Carbon Fiber Spoiler that add some much needed ‘drama’, and rounds out the whole aero package.
The side profile is fantastic with minimal rake.
