Huy T has been modding his E90 BMW 335i for a while, and we just happened to catch him on a recent visit to have his brakes done. Sr Mod Expert Alan Wei is extremely familiar with the E9X platform, especially the 335i, so he knew just the thing when Huy reached out for an upgrade in stopping power.

Sr Mod Expert Alan recommended a comprehensive brake upgrade for the 335i, since the 335i’s rubber is now getting to the age where it starts to fail. To replace the aged stock rubber brake lines, we’ve installed a set of StopTech stainless steel brake lines for BMW E90 335i to eliminate expansion in the brake lines for firmer more responsive brake feel as well as reduce the possibility of failure. The brakes were also flushed with fresh StopTech STR600 Brake Fluid for BMWs, disposing of any potential moisture in the system as well as offering better performance than the OEM brake fluid.

Huy opted for a set of blank face StopTech Brake Rotors for BMW E90 3-Series to replace the out-of-spec brake rotors it rolled in on, paired with a set of Centric Posi-Quiet Brake Pads for BMW E90 335i. As many racers will tell you, race brake pads are not always good on the street where the operating temperatures are totally different. This combination offers an improvement in brake performance over stock without taking away from its usefulness as a daily driver.

The ST Suspensions Coilovers for E90 335i still are in great shape and clean both front and rear, despite a good bit of road use.

The ST Suspension Coilovers lower the E90 Suspension just enough to eliminate the wheelgap while leaving enough clearance to get around the deteriorating, pothole-ridden roads of the greater Los Angeles area. ST Suspension coilovers are a great option for a place like SoCal, offering a performance coilover at a great price point, and with our dry climate, the Galvanized finish isn’t a problem like it might be in snowbelt states if not treated with anti-corrosion agents. What this means is that these are a great way to get low with ride quality that won’t shake your teeth out of your head- several of us here at ModBargains have ST Suspension coilovers on our own personal vehicles.

The ride height front to rear is fantastic and the dark Tarmac finish of the HRE Flow Form Wheels compliment the car’s black paint nicely.

One of the things we love about HRE is their attention to detail, like the HRE block letters along the inner edge of the wheel. From this close, you can also discern the slight concavity in the face of the FF01’s design.

We love how Huy’s E90 looks these days and have enjoyed watching the car’s progress as it continues to evolve over time, creating an aggressive, intimidating look that makes one think twice before messing with this 3-series – the aggression of Huy’s car is a great contrast to the more restrained OEM++ E90’s we’ve featured lately.
