In the last generation, the VW Jetta has managed to shed its sorority girl image and legitimize itself as a premium sedan – and the GLI trim in particular the Mk VI VW Jetta is surprisingly competent. However, as with most German cars, the factory exhaust note is so quiet, it probably wouldn’t wake a sleeping newborn. Hearing your motor sing is half the fun, and with a turbocharged car, there’s usually a nice little power bump to be had as well as an added benefit of upgrading the VW Jetta Mk 6 Exhaust.
Available in both Touring and Track flavors, the AWE Tuning Exhaust for the VW Jetta GLI gives the car the character in its exhaust note you expect of a german car, but the Touring version’s resonators have been carefully tuned to both deliver a great sound while also not creating excessive drone. Of course, if you’re the type who prefers things loud, the Non-Resonated TRACK version of the system is also available.
The black diamond tips look great on the car, filling out the stock opening in the bumper more fully and the AWE Tuning logos look sharp too.
Check out how the system sounds in this sound clip.
As we mentioned earlier, there’s power on the table as well – fitting an AWE Tuning Exhaust yields a power gain of 15HP and 13TQ, offering power to match its good looks and sound.
The AWE Tuning Exhaust gives the car a sportier look and feel, and the diamond black tips tie in beautifully with the dark tinted windows and the roof rack.
In many ways, the Jetta GLI feels like it’s finally grown up and the addition of an exhaust system really brought out the GLI character of the car.
That’s it for this Jetta GLI for now. Thanks for joining us.
