So it’s been a while since we’ve posted an update of our Project Fiesta ST, so we’re overdue for an update. Well, this past weekend we took the car to the track to put the car through its paces in a straight line (since we usually thrash it Canyon Carving and AutoX) – It’s worth noting that we have never taken this car drag racing before, nor have I actually driven in a drag race previously. That said, we now know how much faster the car -can- be the next run with a better reaction time/60′.

When I set out to build up the Fiesta ST, drag honestly was the dead last thing we had on our minds, but when we heard about the Mountune USA 1/4 Mile Challenge, held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to see what the car would really do.

In case you couldn’t tell from the photos, our car # is 214. Posted below is a messy photo of some of our faster runs that day as we figured out the car and how to best get it out of the hole.

Mountune USA‘s even drew quite the crowd, drawing 30+ Focus and Fiesta ST’s to find out who would win bragging rights as “The Fastest” and the chance to win some sweet Mountune goodies.nick-mountune5 nick-mountune4

The car’s huge torque output, especially at stage III, made getting out of the hole quickly without just spinning the wheels a challenge, but we eventually started to figure it out.nick-mountune3

Who won Fastest Fiesta ST at the Mountune USA ST 1/4 Mile Challenge? ST Vehicle Specialist Nick Gregson, who daily-drives the Project Fiesta ST. So what does it take to be the fastest?

Well, here’s the mod list on the winning Fiesta ST:

Cobb AccessPORT V3 + Custom ECU Tuning by Randy Robles of Mountune USA
Cobb Front Mount Intercooler & Chargepipes for Fiesta ST
Cobb Rear Motor Mount for Fiesta ST
Cobb Catted 200CPSI Downpipe + Cat-Back Exhaust (Turbo Back Exhaust)
ST Suspensions XTA Adjustable Coilovers
Active Shift Designs Accelerator Pedal Lift Spacer for 2014+ Ford Fiesta ST [JA8 MK 7.5]

…and more we won’t get into, but the above are the power parts that made the win possible. We have some clever plans and plan to work on our R/T and 60′ for our next drag-strip trackday to lay down even faster times.

I don’t often show up in these things, but there’s my ugly mug.

Thanks for reading – huge thanks to Mountune USA for hosting a great ST event and to Enrico Pavia for the great race photos.
