Brian, the owner of this brand new B8.5 Audi S4 brought it to ModAuto to get a little work done by the Mod Experts. The B8.5 S4 is a great car, no doubt, but the factory wheels are kinda bland and some of the quirks of the exterior forced by USA regulations keep it from looking its best. Fortunately for Brian, the Mod Experts had just the thing in mind.
As we mentioned in our guide to the Best Mods for the B8.5 Audi S4, a set of wheels can make a huge difference in the appearance and performance of any car, so we started with a set of new wheels for Audi S4.
Off went the OEM wheels, and instead, we’ll be fitting a set of Tarmac (black) finish HRE Flow Form wheels.
The other issue is that the factory exhaust tends to be a bit too quiet – the exhaust defines the rear end look of your S4 and the sound is something you’ll notice every time you sink your foot into the floor, so a new high performance exhaust system from AWE Tuning was just what the doctor ordered. Here’s one last look at the stock exhaust…
Brian wanted to keep things consistently themed, so a black/white look would be just the ticket.
We fitted an AWE Tuning Touring Edition Exhaust for B8.5 Audi S4, fitted with the 102mm Diamond Black Exhaust tips. The large tips fill the openings more fully than the stock tips, giving the car a much more “powerful” and imposing look – and the diamond black tips key in beautifully with the look of the rest of the car.
Here’s a look at how it all comes together. The HRE FF01 Tarmac Flow Form Wheels for Audi match the diamond black tips perfectly and key in nicely with the privacy tinted glass.
The HRE FF01 wheels offer a gorgeous split 7-spoke mesh type design that gives the car a much sportier look than the vanilla stock wheels.
And that’s not all – up front we made a few changes as well. The USA spec grille looks kinda funky and doesn’t look as good as the grilles offered in Europe, so we fitted a new grille to sex up the S4 exterior.
Here’s a good look at the RS4 Style Honeycomb Mesh grille for B8.5 Audi S4 that we installed – this grille omits the bar across the front for the USA crash bar. To make the grille look right, we also had to plastidip the factory crash bar black for a neat, clean appearance.

All told, these three mods alone have a HUGE visual impact on the S4. Brian, the owner, had a reaction that said it all seeing the car roll by for the first time. “WOW!”
We have to say, we had the same reaction.
